Description
Here is a unique folk art figural stoneware ink well from 1888. Found in East Texas. 6" long x 3 3/8" wide x 2" tall. Irregular Albany slip glaze incised on back "J H D." Incised on base "J H D/ 1888/ W E C." Two deep ink wells on top and a pair of quill holders at back. Might have some masonic meaning, or perhaps just a whimsical item made for fun (or maybe a blacksmith?). Heavy piece weighs over 1/2 pound. Nice of the maker to put a date on it. When will you see another? Thanks for looking. READ ALL AREAS BELOW By your bid you are accepting all terms relating to contact, payment, and shipping. All of the items I sell are old.
