Description
RELISTED WITH NO RESERVE, here's an ale or beer in that tall slender "oversized soda" shape, from the late 70's to maybe the early 1880's. May be a quart or just under. The bottle has a fat, applied, tapered blob top with NO cork pry chips -- base marked with the McCully (Pittsburgh) glassworks mark. Unlike the vast majority of quarts you see on eBay where the embossing is in a round slug plate, this is a private mold, with the name arched on the shoulder.CONDITION: moderate to heavy case wear on a few embossed letters and some minor wear scattered about. No chips, cracks or scratches to mention, save for a less than 1/16 of an inch peck under the lip (hardly worth mentioning). Good strike. Better than average condition for a bottle of this type. IF THE EBAY PICS SEEM SMALL TRY THIS LINK:http://www.bottleden.com/selling/bottles_for_sale_more.php?search_fd0=12 The bottle could be tumbled to at least about perfect condition, but looks great as is. Two nice bubbles right near the name. At the time of this listing, ONLY A STONEWARE VERSION OF THIS BOTTLE WAS LISTED AT TODD VON MECHOW'S SITE (from David Graci's book) and there are many, many rare quarts listed, so I suspect this is a very scarce one, maybe rare. Thanks for looking and good luck. I AM ONLY SELLING THIS ONE BOTTLE ON EBAY, BUT SEVERAL OTHERS AT MY WEBSITE - CLICK THE TO GO DIRECTLY TO MY OTHER RECENTLY ADDED BOTTLES FOR SALE AT THE SITE (SOME GOOD ONES).
