The seal on the shoulder is APPLIED not molded or embossed, which is a characteristic of good early bottles. Regardless, your prompt payment will assure a very quick turn-around time. In researching this bottle we find that it contained Absinthe, and Pernod Fils was the most popular brand of absinthe prior to 1915, the year absinthe was banned throughout most of Europe.  Like most absinthe, Pernod Fils was produced by macerating the herbs wormwood, fennel, melissa and anise in high-proof grape spirit in a copper alembic where they were then distilled, to produce a transparent liquor. Part of the distillate was then steeped with more green-colored herbs, such as hyssop and petite wormwood, to produce a green colored liquor that was then filtered and mixed with the main part. This was mostly to impart additional flavour and aroma to the absinthe, but also had the additional benefit of enhancing its visual appeal. The final product was roughly 68% alcohol. The predominant flavor in Pernod Fils, like all absinthe, was anise, which has a pronounced liquorice taste. After mental-health issues started to arise by Absinthe users, manufacturers began producing variations of it and promoting it as a healthful tonic, in an attempt to combat the attacks on absinthe during the early twentieth century.  What is most unusual is that this bottle was unearthed in an early day Montana mining camp.  Anyway, scarce bottle to find with a most interesting history, a nice example with nice bubbles in the glass and good clean condition, check it out! Terms of Sale: Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. We put our 30+ years of experience in antiques to use in describing every item we list. If you elect to forego insurance and do not receive your item within two weeks of posted ‘payment received’ date, let us know and we will confirm shipment date and, if needed, provide a copy of the postal receipt as proof of shipping. International Shipping: We have enjoyed shipping antique bottles all over the world and are happy to offer our bottles to international buyers. We will only put the actual sale price as the declared value on the custom forms. Our auctions state that shipping is ‘more if international’,please feel free to contact us before buying, for an international shipping estimate. We will require insurance on international purchases over $100 which means the package must be shipped Global Priority at a higher shipping cost. If international buyer requests, we can insure lesser valued items, but be prepared, this usually comes at a very high cost. Thank you!
