Description
Lot of 5 Vintage ANTIQUE INSULATORS Hemingray & Petticoat Hemingray teal # 42 - 2 of these - one more scratched up on top than the other - one has pointier "beading" on bottom. The other has rounder beading. Hemingray Clear # 42 (with aqua tint) - Rounded beading on bottom. Petticoat - 2 of these - slightly differnt from one another. One is a bit smaller and is aqua - no bottm beading at all - smooth. The other is a tiny bit bigger and is closer to teal. This has a double row of beading on the bottom which is pointy. This one is also about a 1/4" taller. Glass insulators were first produced in the 1850's for use with telegraph lines. As technology developed insulators were needed for telephone lines, electric power lines, and other applications. In the mid 1960's a few people began collecting these antique insulators. Today there are over 2000 collectors. Insulator clubs, local and national shows, and good reference books are available. Nice old items. Decorative and still useful This will be a great buy for the winning bidder! Take a look at my other items and add me to your favorites list! God bless you. I hope you win! * I do combine shipping on multiple wins closing within 5 days of each other - shipping based on total weight of all items. All of my items ship from my non-smoking home. * Most items have local pick-up available. Just ask. * Please understand that most of my items are used and may not be as perfect as if they were brand new. I make every attempt to describe my items accurately, but I am human and on rare occasion I may miss small imperfections. * I am not a professional antiques dealer... so please do your own research and use the photos to judge for yourself. Any inadvertant mention of grade/condition is purely my opinion. * Insurance is optional, but I am not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged items once in transit. * Please email me with any questions and if paying by personal check, allow time for the check to clear before I mail your package. Thanks.
