Description
Bust of Michael J Owens, 1928. Inventor of the automated glass bottle making machine as well as machines to make tumblers and lamp chimneys - helped to form the Owens Bottle Machine Company - it measures 5 1/4 inches long by 2 3/4 inches deep by 5 inches high - Front reads: M.J. Owens 1859 - 1923 - fantastic detail on this piece - small fleabite on the front bottom - some mold roughness all on the inside or underside - no chips, cracks, repairs or damage. Own this important piece of history! From the Frank Chiarenza Museum of Glass --> Pressed glass portrait bust made by the Owens Bottle Company. Owens (1859-1923) was the designer of the first automatic bottle making machine. This used suction to gather the molten glass and formed the bottle in a single operation.
