Description Miniature Pottery "Scratch Jug" COMPLIMENTS OF OWENBY & SONS ASHEVILLE N. C. Antique Pre-Prohibition Miniature Whiskey Brown Glazed Pottery "Scratch Jug" loaded with character! From beautiful Western North Carolina comes this great little Miniature Ceramic Potery Jug, classic jug shape, with handle.  It's 3" high; diameter at base is 1-1/2"; diameter at widest point is 2".   There is no cork and the jug is empty.  It is nice and crudely glazed in a nice, glossy dark brown, including the botttom, with NO CRACKLING/CRAZING, or CRACKS.  There some small chips on the lip of the spout and the top of the handle; the bottom glazing stuck to the kiln, and apparently the flaws there are original The script lettering is INCISED into the jug and is very crisp; there are various small glaze bumps and other original minor finish flaws on the jug, which adds to its' considerable rustic charm.   Please study the photos, as they are the description and really show just how nice this little jug is.  I rate the overall condition of this gem as VERY GOOD. It would make a GREAT addition to any Miniature Whiskey Jug, Appalachiana, or North Carolina History collection.
