Mr. Pickwick Vintage 1930s collectible figural bottle Start Price USD 0.99 Current Price USD 7.26 Time Left - Bid Count 4 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Sunday, August 31, 2008 End Time Sunday, September 07, 2008 Location New Smyrna Beach, FL See more about 'Mr. Pickwick Vintage 1930s collectible figural bottle' Description Mr. Pickwick is a gentlemanly character from Charles Dickens "Pickwick Papers."  He appeared in this form in the 1930's as a syrup bottle.  He is just under 9" tall and about 2 3/4" in diameter at the base.  He is dressed in English gentleman's clothes, which are shown in some detail in the imbossing on the bottle.  He has a "Pork Pie" hat, a double breasted great coat, with buttons front and back, pocket flaps, a wide collar and lapels, a scarf, a starchy shirt collar and bowtie, and there is a vest with a watch chain peeking out from his coat.  He has little wire-rimmed round spectacles and is posed with his right hand inside his coat as if posing for a formal portrait.  His hair, ears and facial features are nicely defined.  At the bottom of the bottle, in the front, is embossed "Mr. Pickwick." This bottle is in excellent condition; the glass is clean, clear and shiny and there are no cracks, chips, scratches or nicks that I can see or feel.  There are some very fine stress marks in the glass around his hat and his neck, which would have been from manufacturing.
