Description
Half pint cornucopia/urn GIII-7 open pontiled. Has a small lip chip as seen in photo's, has a little high point wear on base and on two grapes urn side, small scratch on cornucopia side. See no other issues. This bottle just sparkles in the sunlight, the color is a nice rarely seen blue green, maybe best described as teal? Am selling this bottle for a friend as he knows nothing about bottles and I do. The bottle was his grandparents and he remembers seeing it on a shelf since he was a child in the 1960's. He has requested I put a reserve on this bottle after I got an online appraisal saying it may be worth 4 to 5 hundred dollars chip and all because of the rare color. This is the appraisal:This is almost certainly a GIII-7. There is a slight possibility that it is a GIII-8, but it would have a clearly visible dot in the lower left quadrant on the cornucopia side. The #8 is quite scarce; your photo is fairly clear but I wanted to make sure. McKearin lists #7 as made at both Keene, NH and Coventry, CT The #7 is a common mold, but you just do not see it in this color that often. As previously mentioned, this is a superior color and darn exciting for New England flasks..not washed out but plenty translucent. I would expect it to bring $750 to 850 at auction if mint. The lip flake does hurt the value; I would expect it to bring in the $400-500 range at auction. Item will be well packed and shipped quickly FREE via USPS Priority Mail and insured. No returns please, ask questions for more details or pictures via e-mail so there will be no surprises. No International shipping please.
