Description
~ RARE STODDARD DOUBLE EAGLE HALF PINT AMBER GREEN FLASK c1860 ~ ~ RARE STODDARD DOUBLE EAGLE HALF PINT AMBER GREEN FLASK c1860 ~ ~ No Reserve Auction ~ Up for your bidding is this excellent example of early hand-blown flasks by STODDARD of Stoddard, N. H. c1860, made right around the Civil War period. This is a 6" tall Stoddard Double Eagle half-pint flask that was hand blown in a two-part mold. It has little if any high point wear and is an absolutely gorgeous amber/green color. There are many tiny air bubbles throughout the flask and it has a beautifully sheared lip that is slightly out of round yet expertly sheared, showing typical Stoddard craftsmanship and crudity. This excellent blown flask has a rough open pontil in a slightly concave oval base. The neck shows crude stretch marks/striations in the glass and is wonderfully formed. This antique Stoddard Double Eagle flask is chock full of crudity and character, everything the discriminating collector looks for in an extremely rare piece like this. Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, fleabites or other damage. There's one small spot of mild cloudiness on one side by the Eagles' head. Dimensions: 6" tall with a 2 1/2" x 1 1/8" base. Lip rim diameter is 1". Flask measures 3 1/4" wide at the shoulder and is 2" thick at the same area. This rare collectors dream piece goes up for auction with no reserve in true auction format. Great luck and have fun bidding & winning! Insurance optional and strongly suggested at extra cost based on final selling price. Please wait for invoice before paying. Thanks!
