Description
Dont miss this great chance to purchase one of these really rare and beautiful French Demijohns ! The first one was sold 10 days ago to a happy buyer..and here's another chance to bid on any one of the remaining 5 Again...This auction is just for ONE ONLY of the 5 shown ******************************************************************************** The winning bidder will get to choose which ever one of the 5 bottles they like the best...and will be sent individual closeup views to help you decide...after the auction closes *********************************************************************************************** This auction is possible because of a singular discovery recently made in Northern France...the very area where this unique style was blown and used I was able to purchase all 6 Only 5 of the 6 remain...don't miss out When I was first told of these, my initial feeling was that I would probably like to keep them all in my own collection for 2 reasons: 1) I had to pay a tidy sum to get them and to have them safely shipped...and 2) I didn't really care about selling any, because they are all slightly different and look so amazing....... But decided to at least give my good ebay customers a chance at them. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The photos show the group of 5 remaining bottles that I've placed together on the same table. -All the same genre, but each one unique- I've also posted photos of these bottles as shown in Willy Van den Bossche's book- Antique Glass Bottles (Plate 273) where the exact same type of vessels are described as: French- (Alsace and Jura area) or Swiss( Fluhh) storage bottle- 1840-60 Freeblown in the old 'base starter' method ( not requiring a pontil )...same as the old Dutch method so often seen (personally... just a gut feeling..I think they're actually older than 1840) -Capacity about 11 litres- Snapped off lip- laid on ring -Amazingly all the laid on rings are uniquely different Glass color referred to by Van den Bossche as 'verre noir'- Black Glass...but deep red amber ______________________________________________________________ Once again, although you can see a photo of 5 remaining bottles on the table...the auction is just for ONE of them...any one that you want to choose...( after the auction closes). Winner will get a special set of photos to help them decide on their favorite choice ______________________________________________________________ ALL 5 BOTTLES ARE MINT,untouched and as found **********************************************************+ POSTAGE TO BE DETERMINED AT END OF AUCTION DEPENDING ON LOCATION ETC....(but about 30.00 incl.postage and Ins. in N.A.) OVERSEAS POSTAGE IS VERY EXPENSIVE. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU BID. ALL SALES FINAL
