I have photos of another example retrieved from a line in the Sierra Nevada east of Yosemite National Park if you would like further authentication. I have seen a handful of these pieces in my 27 years collecting insulators including some in better and others in worse condition than this piece. This specimen has two weathering fissures in the skirt one of which extends into the dome. It is structurally sound with no pieces missing. The speculation is that they were used as inexpensive, small production replacements for glass EC & M's. The pinhole is threadless but it fits a standard 1" threaded pin. They are considerably scarcer than the glass pieces which are regularly offered for sale.
