Description
Tippecanoe and E. G. Booz Too! A book about cabin bottles Out-of-print book and 2006 update CD by Thomas Haunton I self-published Tippecanoe & E. G. Booz Too! back in 2003 and soon sold out of its initial publishing run of 150 books. I returned to my publisher to have another run of the book made, but was informed that the printing cost would be significantly higher – so much, in fact, that it would cost more to print the books than I could sell them to book dealers for! I eventually solved my dilemma by self-publishing an updated version of my book in a CD-ROM format in 2006. While rummaging through my closet recently, I stumbled across a couple of copies of my book. Since I often hear from collectors asking to purchase the original book, I thought I’d list them on Ebay. Offered here is a copy of the 2003 Tippecanoe & E. G. Booz Too! This book was done mostly in black and white and was originally accompanied by a CD of most of the book’s photos in color. Since the books I found are missing the original CD, I am including the updated 2006 CD-ROM version, which has everything the original CD had on it and more. Below is the original ad for the 2003 book. The 2006 CD has additional information and photographs, as well as three new Booz bottle repros not listed in the first book. Tippecanoe and E. G. Booz Too! By Thomas C. Haunton Here’s the long-awaited sequel to “The Booz Bottle Real Vs. Repro” article that appeared in the November 1989 issue of Antique Bottle and Glass Collector Magazine. This time it’s a book – loaded with more than 140 photographs and detailed descriptions of 57 different cabin bottles – information picked up during the author's twenty-plus years of collecting and studying these bottles – much of it not available anywhere else. Among the bottles covered in this book are the six 19th-century cabin bottles listed by George and Helen McKearin in American Glass: · Two Tippecanoe bottles blown at the Mt. Vernon Glass Works in Vernon, New York · Three “E. G. Booz’s Old Cabin Whiskey” bottles made at the Whitney Glass Works in Glassboro, New Jersey · Jacob s Cabin Tonic Bitters, also attributed to Whitney Newly uncovered information on E. G. Booz – the man! The dates and info we all thought we knew aren’t quite the same anymore – plus see the recently discovered piece of Booz ephemera! Also included in this section are photos of the Whitney Booz bottle mold and rare photos of an original Jacob s bottle. Cabin bottle reproductions are represented by the Jacobs Cabin Tonic Bitters by Owens-Illinois and fifty varieties of the E. G. Booz bottle. From the early straight roof Booz bottles produced by Clevenger Brothers, Dell, Old Jersey Glass, and the Jersey Bog Glass Works, to the beveled roof cabins by Clevengers, Wheaton / Nuline, and Armstrong Cork – all are covered, including never before seen photos of both of the Clevenger Booz bottle molds and one of the Armstrong Cork Booz bottle molds. That not all! There’s still the “milk glass” Booz, the “BOOZE BOTTLE”, two recent additions to the Booz family, and MORE! And don’t forget the commemorative Booz and North American Log Cabin bottles by Clevenger! Even better – all the bottles now have numbers! Using an extension of the McKearin numbering system, you can now keep track of which bottle is which! A price list gives you approximate values. This book comes with a free CD that contains over 200 color photos in a JPEG format. Most of the photos in the book are included here in color, along with many others that didn’t make it into the book. This auction is for one book and CD. Payment via check or money order. Postage and insurance paid by seller. US Postal Money Order payments ONLY receive immediate shipping. Massachusetts residents pay 5% sales tax. FYI - Original selling price for the book was $30 and $24.95 for the CD.
