Description
Lot includes: a pair of unembossed 8 sided umbella ink bottles in sparkling mint and perfect condition, no chips, cracks or issues of any kind. The smaller one has a small ball iron pontil and the larger one has an open pontil, obviously they took a paper label for ink, both have inward rolled lips. These bottles were recovered on March 9, 2002 from a Union soldier's hut on Ewalt's Farm just outside of Fredrickburg, VA. I can state that as fact because I dug and detected the entire hut and connected fireboxes. The hut floor was littered with liquor and ink bottles that were scattered about and left on the floor until the hut was filled in during the land remediation known a Reconstruction carried on by the Northern government after the War. It was my great privilege to be able to excavate several soldier's huts on this famous Union encampment that sent soldiers off to The Battles of Fredricksburg, Chancellorsville and finally Gettysburg. We were lucky enough to be given permission by the land owner's to excavate for Civil War artifacts. Offered with no reserve. You can count on accurate descriptions here. Those of you that have bought before know that I will overdescribe any potential condition issue that would make a buyer unhappy with his/her purchase. I want you to know the entire story because even though I may feel the flaws are insignificant and of no harm, you may feel otherwise. Bid with confidence, you'll have no regrets. I don't ever do buy it nows, never make second chance offers and never end my sales early. IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO COMPLETE THIS TRANSACTION - PLEASE DO NOT BID. If payment is not received within 7 days a non-paying bidder alert form will be filed. The winning bidder can check out by adding 1 pound for USPS Priority Mail. You can estimate the postage by going to www.USPS.com and use my 08882 zip code. Insurance is required on lots over $100. Good Luck!
