VAPO-CRESOLENE VAPORIZER Start Price USD 49.00 Current Price USD 49.00 Time Left - Bid Count 1 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, October 06, 2008 End Time Monday, October 13, 2008 Location Cornwall, Ontario See more about 'VAPO-CRESOLENE VAPORIZER' Description A Vapo-Cresolene Vaporizer.     An almost complete Vapo-Cresolene Vaporizer.  It is only missing the lid of the cardboard container.  The 6” high Lamp-Type Vaporizer holder is in one piece, as is the removable saucer that actually holds the Cresolene Liquid.     The Glass container which would be filled with Kerosene, is embossed with the words ‘Vapo-Cresolene,’ and still has the wick in place – there is also a spare wick.   The Lamp fits snugly into the base of the metal holder.   The rim under the top of the holder is stamped August 4th 1885.   The Glass Chimney seems to be in one piece with only a smidgen of a chip on one end.    The age of the whole unit is difficult to establish, but the Knobbed Poison Bottle container, which was bought in Canada, states that ‘Cresolene was established in 1879 and has been in use for half a century,’ so the bottle can be dated as approx 1929.   I presume the vaporizer itself is older, but how old I don’t know.    The bottle’s container shows its age, with one bottom flap missing and all four top flaps missing.  The knobbed bottle of Cresolene still contains some Cresolene.  The bottle is embossed ‘Vapo-Cresolene Co,’ down one side and on the other side is embossed with what looks like ‘Pat’d US June 1885 EMC July 25th..’  The four page instruction leaflet is printed in English and five other languages.   All of my items are sold ‘as is,’ from estate sales and are described as accurately as possible.  If you have any queries about an item please email me and I will be pleased to answer your question.   Shipping & Handling to the United States will be $16.82   International S&H will be $35.30  S&H within Canada depends upon location.   Combined shipping on multiple purchases.  All payments must be via PayPal.     Place a Bid!
