The bottle and all labels are in near perfect condition. These old bottles of White Horse Scotch were individually numbered, as you can see at the top of the front label. White Horse Scotch is a blended scotch whisky, not a single malt. This bottle is the standard 4/5 quart size. I found this bottle in the back of a cabinet in my Aunt's kitchen after she died in 1973. I never knew her to drink scotch or other spirits, so I believe that this belonged to her husband, who passed away in 1953. My best guess is that this bottle was produced in the 1940-1950 time period. I've had it since 1973. An Internet search also suggests that this age is likely. As you can see from the pictures, the "To Open - Pull Upwards" label on the neck of the bottle, with the pull-string, is old but near-perfect. Also note that you can see the level of the contents about 1/8 inch below the "To Open - Pull Upwards" label. This is very close to, if not the same as, the original fill level. The Internal Revenue "Tax Paid" stamp is complete and fully readable, showing the importer and stamp number. Also note that the bottle is capped with a wire-type seal. Some of the wire seal is exposed but its end is still covered with the original foil top cover. The rear side of the bottle is also in excellent condition. The White Horse on the bottom of the rear side is printed or painted directly on the glass. The rear label is complete but has a minor flaw on the right side, beneath the "W" in "Whisky". The minor creases in the rear label appear to have always been there. This label must not have been flat against the glass when it was applied. The bottom of the bottle shows that the bottle came from the White Horse Distilleries Ltd. in Glasgow, Scotland. The horse on the front of the bottle, just above the label, is embossed in the glass. I can't make any promises about the quality of the contents of this bottle. All I can say is that the bottle has never been opened and the liquid level is near-original. Also, there is absolutely no sediment or debris in the bottom of the bottle. An unopened bottle of White Horse Scotch, very similar in age and style to this one, was recently sold on Ebay for over $250, but its labels were not nearly as nice or complete as the one you see here.
