Description * Up for sale here is an extremely rare soda bottle from San Diego County, California. This soda is in excellent condition, with very little wear and light scratching. The only flaw this bottle has is an open bubble on the reverse lower heel roll, (see closeup picture). It is non detracting and bottle displays very near mint. The glass is crude and wavy, as it looks to have been blown in a cold mold. Also the embossed lettering is very crude and primitave. It reads within a circular slug plate, "ESCONDIDO / SODA WORKS / ESCONDIDO, CAL". There are two versions of this bottle (both extremely rare), and this one has does not have the reversed lettering. The color is a sage green, and it measures 8" tall. It is very crude for an abm bottle, and the condition is outstanding. The picture here is Escondido in 1910, and is only to show what the small town looked like when this bottle was around. Bottle would date from the teens.
