FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION ... One "Carnival Glass" Decanter depicting Charles A. Lindbergh manufactured by Wheaton Nuline circa 1970s. Quite possibly a rare find, certainly a highly collectible item, and in excellent condition with the original box. This particular decanter is highly sought after and quite the find in this condition. This commemorative decanter was produced by Wheaton Nuline, the consumer division of Wheaton Industries, a famous manufacturer of glass and ceramics products, founded in Millville, New Jersey, in 1888. Many of the company’s vintage products are highly sought after by collectors. This decanter is part of the "GREAT AMERICAN SERIES" and was produced in the early 1970s. The company discontinued production of these commemorative decanters between 1974 and 1975. This is a LIMITED EDITION Decanter that is in EXCELLENT condition. On the front, this decanter features the face of Charles A. Lindbergh. His name and the words "The Lone Eagle" also appear on the front. On the back are the words, "Spirit of St. Lewis, New York non-stop to Paris France" with his plane and the date "May 20-21, 1927". Unlike some other bottles in this series, the bottom is inscribed, "WHEATON N.J." "LIMITED EDITION" and "GREAT AMERICAN SERIES." The inscription on the bottom differs from some other bottles in the series. Also unlike some other bottles in this series, there are no copyright marks and no date of manufacture. The bottle is "Light Blue" in color and measures approximately 8-3/8 inches high, 4-1/2 inches wide, and 2-1/8 inches deep. There are no chips or cracks in this beautifully crafted decanter. The ORIGINAL CARDBOARD BOX is included, which is in very good condition, considering that it is more than thirty years old. ABOUT WHEATON GLASS COMPANY: Wheaton Glass Company began their consumer division in 1965 under the name of Wheaton/Nuline in Millville, New Jersey. The name was changed to Wheaton Products in 1973. Wheaton/Nuline made reproductions of old American bottles in 1967. In an effort to avoid confusion with the originals, the reproduction bottles were made in different colors and were marked "W" - "Nuline" or "Wheaton, N.J." In addition to reproduction bottles, Wheaton Glass also produced commemorative decanters for Presidents, American Writers, inventors, astronauts, military leaders, patriots and other notable and famous Americans. They were produced in limited editions. The production of these reproduction bottles and commemorative decanters were discontinued between 1974 and 1975. They are quite possibly rare finds and most certainly highly collectible. They are absolutely beautiful when the light hits the details and accents on these remarkable specimens.
