WHIDBEYS LOGANBERRY LIQUEUR 750ml Box & Recipes NEW NR Prev Stop Play Next Whidbeys LiqueurM. W. Whidbeys LimitedLoganberry Liqueur ~ 750ml * Sealed Bottle* 44 Proof * Alc. 22% by Vol. ~ We are clearing out our home bar and came across this (vintage) bottle of Whidbeys Loganberry Liqueur which isn't even made anymore! We picked up a couple of bottles back in 1995 or 96 when we visited Whidbey Island, Washington and the Greenbank, WA vineyards! I have searched all over the net and could pretty much only come up with Whidbey lovers who are very upset they can no longer buy this stuff. I know many of them wish they had a perfect bottle like this on their shelf, or know someone who would... so let's get the auction started! This is a mint bottle of the Loganberry Liqueur with the maker's recipe book and it is all in the original box - just about as mint as you could find! The date on the recipe booklet is 1991, but I am absolutely certain I bought this in 95 or 96... guess they used the same booklet for years. Through my research online, looks like production stopped just about that time.... 1995-96If you love Whidbeys Liqueur or the Loganberry in general.. then this is for you!! If you know someone who is crazy about this stuff, you will be the best thing since sliced bread if you present this for the holidays, birthday or housewarming gift!!There isn't much else for me to say ~ but please take a look at the pictures to see what you are going to receive soon after your payment clears! Here is some info I did find online about Whidbeys, Loganberries, etc. What is a loganberry? In August of 1881, Judge J. H. Logan planted seeds in his garden near Santa Cruz, California, in an attempt to get a better blackberry. He planted two varieties of blackberry (the Aughinbaugh and the Texas Early) and happened to place them alongside an old variety of red raspberry (name unknown but resembling the Red Antwerp). An unusual hybrid resulted: a plant very similar to the Aughinbaugh parent but very much larger and of stronger growth: the Loganberry. The first fruit of this unintentional cross between a blackberry and a raspberry was tasted on May 31, 1883. For more history, click here.(January 2004) Greenbank Farm. Amid an open field of flowering grasses sat a red-and-white refurbished barn the size of a horse stable — a building colossal enough to be rented out for wedding receptions, which it often is. Alongside it was a duck pond, Volkswagen-sized oak wine casks, and a walkway that led to an adjacent cafe. The 100-year-old farm, originally a dairy, by the mid-1940s grew to be the country's largest producer of loganberries, a reddish bramble fruit. Berries grown here were long ago used to make wine for Pomerelle, an ancestor of Chateau Ste. Michelle and, more recently, to make Whidbeys Loganberry Liqueur. In the mid-1990s, the farm was put up for sale, and saved from subdivision by community activists who persuaded Island County and other conservationists to buy and preserve it. Today, loganberries still grow here, though in smaller quantity, and the farm buildings house Whidbey Pies Cafe, a tiny cafe specializing in loganberry pie, beside a winery that still specializes in loganberry wines, now under the Greenbank Farm label. (The winery shop also carries other wines from around the region.)(October 2005) Whidbey’s Greenbank Farm, the largest loganberry farm in the United States. The original 1930’s barns have been restored to house the liqueur production for Whidbey’s Loganberry Liqueur.(September 2007) Q: Why has Ste. Michelle stopped producing Whidbeys Liqueur? My wife and I took a romantic getaway some 16 years ago to the island and fell in love with the winery and liqueur. I hear now it's almost impossible to get liqueur with the Whidbey logo. A: I asked Kari Leitch, director of communications for Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, to update me on the status of the liqueur. The loganberry liqueur, which I recall was absolutely scrumptious on top of ice cream, was discontinued, she reports, because the company was no longer able to source a sufficient quantity of loganberries. That may have something to do with the fact that Ste. Michelle sold the Whidbey property (Greenbank Farm) some years ago; it is now a pasture. This is something you may never see again on eBay.... for the lovers do not share... they can't, they love this stuff too much!!I believe my starting bid is reasonable; bid early and place the highest bid you are willing to pay in order to get a chance to get this for the holidays.
