Description
Up for bids is this 9 1/2 inch tall Highland Bitters and Scotch Tonic bottle. Color is dark amber. This bottle was bought this past weekend at a local tag sale. Condition looks to be very good. No cracks, and just the slightest flake of the lip. I am not a "bottle person" and I cannot say much more about this item The collectors out there will know what this is, and please feel free to ask any questions you might have. I do not have a BUY IT NOW price, it's an auction! Bid if you are interested. Winning bidder will add $8.00 for postally insured shipping to any USA address. International shipping rates vary by Country and choice of service so please inquire. Thanks and good luck, Louis On Jun-30-08 at 10:14:35 PDT, seller added the following information: All new pictures have been posted. I seriously under-estimated this bottles desirability and value. Simply put, I do not know that much about bottles, just knew Bitters bottles were collectible. I did not look at it all that closely, nor did I clean it before listing. It was simply a dirty bottle that was bought at a local tag sale and the hopes were that it was worth a few dollars more than what I paid for it. I know better now thanks to all the people that offered to BUY IT NOW within minutes of posting it at auction. It has been washed and gone over with a more discerning eye considering the potential value to the discriminating collectors. I understand condition means alot when it comes to a bottle of this rarity. The bottle has a small shallow chip on the base that was easily missed when looking at a dirty bottle at night and you are tired = sorry for any inconvieniance this may have caused. The smallest of flakes on the lip just might be a manufacturing flaw and not a chip after all. There is another place on the lip that appears to be a fold in the glass = done in the making. You can see it in the picture of the lip. Highlighted is the questionable flake which kinda looks like it might be part of the manufacturing process as well. Hard to tell when you are not a bottle person and it's so small and then take into consideration the top looks to be applied and perhaps hand finished as well. WHEW! I have added many better pictures, please have a look! I will try my best to answer them quickly... A note on the color. Bottle appears darker onn the bottom half, not sure if it's the color variation or thickness of the glass itself. This is an auction, high bidder at the end gets this HIGHLAND BITTERS AND SCOTCH TONIC bottle. Hope these new pics help answer your questions. Feel free to ask any questions you might still have as well. PS: Thanks to the few people who answered my questions last night, it was a help for sure.On Jul-04-08 at 12:15:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Last set of pictures and additions to description. Glass looks amber to me although a friend suggests it has some red in it. I have heard the glass looks green in some if the pictures, that is due to reflections on the grass & bushes in the yard. I have heard the pictures make it look like there are other chips on the ribs, it is an illusion of the reflections. The sliver (or chip, call it what you want) is very shallow. It is easy to miss because it blends in well and it is along the bottom. I hope this helps answer some questions.
