Description
This auction is for one (1) SCARCE absolutely gorgeous EMBOSSED SIGNET COPYING FOUNTAIN PEN MASTER INK BOTTLE -- IN COBALT-VIOLET BLUE -- with ORIGINAL LABEL!   This ink bottle is in near mint condition, with no chips, cracks, or dings!  There is a little wear to base rim/edge, as expected from 100 years of use. In beautiful hue of violet tinged cobalt blue glass -- WOW! (Pictures do not accurately reflect the color variants -- must be in-hand to be fully appreciated!) [I am listing additional inks and bottles in my other auctions -- check 'em out!]  This is one to acquire, own and enjoy -- for both novice and invested collectors alike!  Great piece of tangible history!  This early ABM bottle still has the whittle, bubbles, and irregularities in the making that collectors have come to desire -- WOW! This little gem is embossed on back:  RUSSIA CEMENT CO./ SOLE MF'RS' OF/ SIGNET INK/ AND/ * LEPAGE'S GLUE*   This is a rare find in color, condition, and completeness!  Measures approximately 10"h! Great acquisition for the serious collector, as well as the novice. One occasionally comes across these beautiful bottles, but rarely with labeling, especially as complete condition as this one is!  There is some staining, as expected from contents, handling, and age, but the red and yellow colors are still notable, and the text is still legible.  Signet Ink was manufactured by the Russia Cement Co. in Gloucester, Mass., in the 1800s - early 1900s, along with their "Lepage's World Famous Glue" and several other ink products.  A genius for the advertising motto, some of their latter, more popular ones included "The Blood of Business" and "Quality ink made by a Quality house."  Eventually, they expanded their production markets to Chicago and New York, as well.  Incredible find for the collector of inks and master inks, in stunning color, condition, and completeness -- a definite requisite for collectors of antique inks/master inks, colored glass, Signet items, Massachusetts memorabilia, and antique bottles in general. Low starting price and no reserve make this one you just can't afford to pass by! Please see pictures for details. Photos are with flash and without, so there may appear to be some color discrepancies that don't really exist. If there are any questions about pictures or information, requests must be made prior to auction's end. NOTE: SPECIAL OFFER:  Buy any (3) or more of my ink bottles -- I'll throw in shipping FREE!
